An enhanced link collector application that caters for the creation of a browsing hierarchy via categories and sub-categories. Categories and links can have full descriptions and this metadata is combined with a crawl of the source pages that are linked to. Oracle's free text indexer is then run over this data to provide the search.
The result is a generic system that can be used to provide a mini-resource catalog. It was used successfully for Bristol's student help pages, and then rolled out to Exeter University, when they saw it and wanted one too.
